What a deep groove ball bearing is made of — what our table can confirm
2026-10-31
The role of inner ring, outer ring, balls and cage, plus exactly which structural and material columns our parameter table records and which it does not.
The structure of a deep groove ball bearing is standard industry practice, not a proprietary design of ours. This page first explains what the four parts do (generic engineering description), then states which structural columns our parameter table actually records — and what it does not record, we do not fill in.
Four parts, one job each
Inner ring
The ring that sits on the shaft, with a groove on its outer surface. It transfers shaft load into the balls. Its bore is what we call the bore d.
Outer ring
The ring that sits in the housing bore, with a groove on its inner surface. Its outside diameter is the outer diameter D.
Balls
The balls running between the two raceways. A deep groove ball bearing is a "ball" bearing because the rolling elements are balls rather than cylinders or cones. Ball-to-raceway contact is a point contact, which is why it carries radial load and a certain amount of axial load in either direction.
Cage
Keeps the balls equally spaced, stops adjacent balls from rubbing, and keeps them from falling out between the rings. The cage does not carry the main load.
The mechanical function described in these four sections is generic engineering description that applies to deep groove ball bearings as a product class. It does not represent a proprietary process or design of our factory.
What the parameter table records about structure
Material: GCr15, identical on all 700 rows
The bearing material column reads GCr15 (high-carbon chromium bearing steel) on all 700 rows. There is no second value.
That is a material grade record. The table contains no heat treatment, hardness, microstructure or inspection-result fields — we publish no numbers for those at all.
Cage: pressed steel SPCC, identical on all 700 rows
The cage column reads pressed steel (SPCC) on all 700 rows. The cages in this catalogue are therefore pressed steel, not nylon or machined brass.
If your application needs another cage type, this catalogue does not carry it and it must be confirmed separately (contact us).
Oil groove, coating, location feature: all "not provided"
| Field | Value across 700 rows |
|---|---|
| Oil groove | not provided |
| Coating | not provided |
| Location feature (outer ring) | not provided |
| Matched arrangement | none |
| Bore type | cylindrical bore |
| Number of rows | 1 (single row) |
These columns are uniform across the whole table, no exceptions. What that means in practice:
- No oil groove ⇒ this catalogue has no relubrication passage (consistent with the "supplementary lubrication feature: not provided" noted in mounting dimensions).
- No coating ⇒ the surface supplied is the base material itself, without a special plating.
- No location feature or matched arrangement ⇒ not built for preloaded pair mounting.
- Cylindrical bore ⇒ not a tapered bore, and no adapter-sleeve configuration.
Seals: 100 rows without, 600 rows with
The seal column has only two values: not provided on 100 rows (open) and provided on 600 rows (Z / ZZ / RZ / 2RZ / RS / 2RS, 100 each).
Which suffixes carry rubber parts, and what a seal change does and does not alter, is covered in bearing suffix codes.
What we do not claim about structure
Generic knowledge versus table records
The upper half of this page (what the four parts do) is generic engineering knowledge found in any bearing handbook; we include it only so the field values below mean something.
Every specific value in the lower half comes from the parameter table. The two are kept apart: we never turn a generic "should be like this" into "this is how we manufacture it".
No claim of proprietary process
The parameter table has no column for process, equipment, heat treatment or inspection. Therefore:
- we claim no proprietary manufacturing process;
- we publish no hardness, noise or life figures;
- we claim no management-system certification.
For the process and inspection records of a specific batch, that has to be handled per order (contact us).
To check how these structural fields actually read, open 6000 (GCr15, pressed steel cage, no oil groove).
