Seal Design Notes
- Seal construction
- An RS sealing ring made of nitrile rubber (NBR) on one side; the opposite side is open.
- What it shields
- The ring helps limit contaminant entry and grease escape on the sealed side. The open side remains dependent on the assembly. No water-resistance rating is specified.
- Effect on speed
- Where provided, the RS grease-lubricated limiting speed is lower than the open version for the same base model. Compare the two model-specific ratings; if the RS rating is missing, request confirmation before selecting an operating speed.
- Lubrication
- The factory table lists both grease and oil lubrication. Use the oil-specific rating for an oil-lubricated arrangement; a missing grease rating does not remove the listed oil rating.
- When to choose it
- Consider RS when a one-sided NBR sealing arrangement suits the assembly and the applicable listed speed covers the intended operating conditions. Confirm the required contamination protection.
